Anti-algae treatment
Flocculation
Alternatives to chlorine for pool treatment
Cleaning of pool walls and floor
Sanitation of pool service areas
Our monitoring ensures a pH level between 7.2 and 7.4. To prevent the pH from dropping below 7, which would result in excessive water acidity, we use Dryplus, a product capable of increasing the pH by approximately 0.1 units, bringing it back to the ideal level. When the pH exceeds 7.6, the water becomes alkaline. To prevent the development of bacterial flora, algae, and limescale deposits—causing water cloudiness—we use Dryminus, a product that lowers the pH level by approximately 0.1 units.
Monitoring pool chlorine levels is equally important: it should range between 0.6 ppm and 1.50 ppm, evenly distributed throughout the pool. To facilitate these checks, we provide our customers with a kit for pH testing and free chlorine control (D.P.D. method). Below are some useful instructions for using the kit:
Rinse the test tube, immerse it to a depth of about 30 cm upside down, then turn it upright allowing the air to escape.
For measuring free chlorine, remove excess water up to the marked level on the test tube and add one tablet of DPD 1.
For pH measurement, insert one Red Phenol tablet into the designated test tubes of the kit.
Close the test tube and shake until the tablet is completely dissolved.
Compare the free chlorine and pH readings with the corresponding color scales and make any necessary adjustments using the appropriate products if values are outside the desired range.
Chlorination treatment is essential to ensure safe and healthy swimming conditions.
Regular pool water chlorination is achieved through the use of Trichloroisocyanuric Acid in 200 g tablets for overflow dispensers and 500 g tablets for skimmer pools. The chlorinating effect for approximately 30 m³ of water lasts for several days (with the system operating for at least 14 hours per day).
The number of tablets should be increased if the free chlorine concentration falls outside normal operating conditions, between 0.6 and 1.00 ppm. Moreover, as these tablets serve a maintenance function, they should be used only after achieving proper water balance (in particular, a free chlorine level in the pool of at least 1.00 ppm).
Chlorine dispersion occurs for two main reasons:
Oxidation: oxidation transforms organic substances in the water into chlorides.
Sunlight exposure: ultraviolet rays cause significant fluctuations in free chlorine levels. In this case, using a specific product such as Guard 100 (30 g/m³ relative to the filling water) helps limit chlorine consumption caused by sunlight while also preserving excess chlorine.
At the beginning of the season, it is essential to carry out a treatment that prevents the formation and spread of algae.
Frequent monitoring of free chlorine and pH levels is crucial to promptly make any necessary adjustments and perform the appropriate anti-algae treatment.
By adding 10 g/m³ of Alga Stop and repeating the treatment every 15 days at half dosage, it is possible to prevent high temperatures, elevated pH levels, insufficient chlorination, or the presence of nitrates from promoting algae growth.
Algae (green or black) can appear in different forms:
adhering to the pool walls or floor, or in areas with less water circulation;
suspended in the water.
Flocculation is a water filtration aid used to remove microscopic suspended particles that cause cloudiness in the pool water.
The flocculant is a product that, when hydrated, increases in volume and enhances the filtering power of the filter sand, thereby improving its ability to trap impurities. This process relies on hydrated molecules binding together to form reticuled flocs that settle on the sand bed.
Today, research and testing have made it possible to develop products with consistent effectiveness and broad-spectrum action (pH 6.8 – 8.0), achieving optimal results between pH 7.2 and 7.4. The flocculant should be diluted in a container (1 part product to 10 parts water) following the instructions on the packaging.
To eliminate cloudiness, mix the flocculant for 2–3 minutes in a plastic container, then pour it slowly into the skimmer next to the pump or into the compensation tank near the suction while the system is running. Flocculant doses should be 400–500 g of product diluted to 10% per 100 m³ of water. Follow this with a thorough backwash every 4–5 hours of filtration and immediately start a new flocculation treatment until the desired water clarity is achieved.
It is also possible to prevent cloudiness or enhance the filter bed with two steps: pour 200–250 g of 10% diluted product into the skimmer closest to the pump, or into the compensation tank near the suction, per 100 m³ of water. Repeat the flocculation treatment with each filter backwash.
Attention: Water filtration must never be stopped until ideal water conditions are achieved.
Limescale deposits due to water hardness and organic deposits can form on the walls and floor of the pool. Limescale is produced by calcium precipitation, which occurs when the pH is above the normal range. The most effective solution is to empty the pool and use an anti-limescale product. We apply the product to the pool floor and walls, let it act for about 5–10 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly, carefully draining the water with a submersible pump to be placed near the main drain. To maximize the product’s effectiveness, we perform descaling on a freshly emptied pool so that the limescale does not dry excessively. The amount of product and any dilution required vary depending on the degree of scaling, pool size, and the presence of organic matter mixed with the limescale.
Organic deposits mainly consist of smog and substances brought in by swimmers (sunscreens, natural skin exfoliation, etc.) that float on the surface and settle along the pool edges. To remove them, the alkaline cleaner Deterliner is used. This specific product acts directly on the affected area; simply wait 5–10 minutes and perform a quick rinse to achieve satisfactory results and effective cleaning. A two-step treatment is necessary only when limescale deposits are present on the surface before organic matter, or vice versa, removing one first and then the other.
To limit limescale buildup in hard or iron-rich water, it is important to prevent the precipitation of calcium, magnesium, and ferric salts in the water by using Calcium Complex, a sequestering agent whose dosage varies depending on water hardness, applied from the first pool fill.
We are available for a preliminary analysis of the filling water to identify the best treatments for each situation, ensuring safe and relaxing pool use.
Regular pool cleaning and descaling guarantee water hygiene and improve the efficiency of the filtration and water treatment system.
To prevent the formation and spread of fungi or warts, it is essential to sanitize the areas surrounding the pool, allowing safe barefoot walking on poolside surfaces, in restrooms, or in changing rooms, minimizing any risk.
Our sanitizer is diluted to 1% in a container and then used to clean floors and for overall sanitation treatment. This specific product is suitable for sanitizing changing rooms and restrooms, but it can also be used in other ways: for example, added to the water in footbaths at public pools (maximum dose 3%).
